In particular, the new development of software modules requires the development and analysis of software architecture designs. Both central services are operated in the IT DLZ, but depending on the software component components on premise for different operators on up to 1,600 servers. The central components include an identity management system and a central school server, as well as other applications. Software components, such as teaching administration, are operated decentrally. The central components are used by all schools and must be designed for a corresponding load. It should be noted that for the operation of the decentralized components Windows, Linux and MacOS must be supported. Web components are expected to work for different browsers on different operating systems (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari). As a rule, the implementation of new requirements means that both the central components and the decentralized components must be considered. The new and further development of the applications takes place on the basis of individual development packages. The basis is the technical set of requirements for the system. Technical requirements are compiled by the IT-DLZ and bundled with the desired professional requirements. These technical requirements are subsumed under the term “maintenance and care”. The IT-DLZ is responsible for the existing software modules to ensure the maintenance of the functionality of the software. This means in particular that the software components are adapted to new versions, e.g. of operating systems, application servers, databases or used third-party libraries. The technical requirements are e.g. developed by the StMUK and coordinated with the IT-DLZ. The IT-DLZ as the client then coordinates the requirements with the contractor. Part of the tasks will be the preparation of a rough technical implementation proposal with an assessment of the effort. Based on the analyses, the technical requirements are prioritized and bundled into development packages. After the complete compilation of a further development package, the final cost estimate for the implementation of this further development package is made. Based on this cost estimate, the StMUK, for example, commissions the client (IT-DLZ) to implement the further development package. The implementation of approved further development packages follows an agile software development process.
