What the buyer wants

The service description is based on the standard products for C hardware articles for the IT warehouse introduced at the University Hospital Münster (UKM). A deviation here-from is generally not permissible. The UKM operates a highly available and complex IT infrastructure, which is continuously further developed through new construction, conversion and expansion measures as well as the ongoing exchange and supplementation of IT workplaces. The C hardware items used (e.g. input devices, webcams, headsets, adapters and other IT accessories) must seamlessly integrate into the existing IT landscape and comply with the established technical standards. Against this background, it is necessary from a technical, functional and economic point of view to consistently continue the standard products already introduced. Only in this way can it be ensured that newly acquired hardware is compatible with the existing workstation systems, operating systems, used terminals as well as the central administration and security mechanisms. At the same time, it is ensured that replacement and supplementary purchases can take place without additional testing, testing or integration effort. Deviation from the standard products defined would lead to increased effort for technical evaluations, compatibility checks, driver and firmware tests and the adaptation of existing operations and support processes. In addition, additional training costs for IT employees and users as well as an increased effort in warehousing, spare parts stocking and lifecycle management would be expected. Different product lines also increase the complexity of maintenance, support and troubleshooting and lead to avoidable operational risks. The standardisation of C-hardware enables the UKM to provide IT workstations economically, securely and efficiently. It reduces administrative effort over the entire product lifecycle and helps to minimize downtime and ensure a uniform level of service and support. In order to maintain the principle of efficiency and economy according to § 7 BHO, it is necessary to procure the regularly required C hardware articles via a central framework contract. By bundling requirements, economies of scale can be exploited, uniform procurement and support processes established and economic purchasing conditions achieved. At the same time, it ensures that all organizational units of the UKM can access standardized, compatible and centrally maintained hardware products.
