Legal AI Workspace

As a specialized working environment, the legal AI workspace software to be procured must support legal work in the KfW Group using generative artificial intelligence. The software is used in particular for legal research, analysis and processing of legal content as well as for the (partially) automated creation, revision and structuring of documents and other legal work results. Users are the persons in the legal sector as well as other specialist areas and subsidiaries in the KfW Group. A Legal AI Workspace combines large language models with specialized processing layers that are optimized for working with legal content. It differs from general AI assistants in that it brings together legal processes in a uniform working environment and uses mechanisms that are indispensable for the professional application of law. This includes in particular: the comprehensible anchoring of generated statements in verifiable sources, the structured processing of complex documents and the rule-based examination of contract contents. The software must provide the following core functions. Legal research: The software must be able to answer complex legal questions based on relevant legal sources. Each generated statement must be traced back to concrete, verifiable sources (especially laws, jurisprudence, commentary literature) and made transparent to users. KfW regards integrated access to curated legal databases as a quality-enhancing feature. The software must also be able to work with documents and internal knowledge databases provided by KfW. Document analysis and contract evaluation: The software must be able to process and evaluate the content of documents, including complex contracts, tabular content and scanned documents, without losing essential structural information. This includes the ability to systematically and completely reconcile contract content against predefined test standards. Text creation and design support: The software must support the preparation and revision of legal texts, in particular draft contracts, notes and opinions. Proposals for amendments must be immediately traceable in the document; a mere provision of generated text for manual adoption by users does not meet the requirements. The software complements general AI software already used at KfW. The new software is operated as a stand-alone tool and uses a model infrastructure provided by the contractor. It is expected that the software will achieve significant efficiency and quality improvements in day-to-day legal advice, document creation and auditing, and recurring standard legal tasks. Without prejudice to the provision of the Software as a Service (SaaS) described in this document and the rights of use granted for this purpose, the provision of the Software must take place in such a way that it at least satisfies the purpose of use. For this purpose, KfW has at least the rights of use that are necessary to fulfill the purpose of use. The contractor thus owes the following services: (a) provision of software with the functional scope, (b) implementation of a project for the implementation of the software, (c) operation as SaaS, (d) provision of additional services as required, (e) termination support.
