1. Purchased is an extension of the existing central data storage infrastructure for secure storage, structured provision and further processing of large scientific research data sets. The memory extension is intended in particular to record the data-intensive research data generated in the B.I.T. Lab. This includes high-resolution 3D and 4D image data from confocal microscopy as well as other scientific measurement and analysis data. The system is intended to provide several authorized users with reliable access and to be integrated into the existing university IT. Functional requirements In particular, the system must be suitable for:

• permanent storage and reliable provision of large research data sets
• simultaneous access of several authorized users
• structured user and rights management
• protection of data integrity through suitable redundancy mechanisms
• connection to workstations and other scientific systems via the existing network infrastructure
• integration into a security or rights management system provided by the client. Backup concept
• Extensibility of the storage capacity within the framework of the system architecture defined in the specification
• Monitoring and documentation of the system state 4 . Basic technical requirements require a system with the following basic characteristics:
• for the intended continuous operation of suitable storage architecture
• redundant design for protection against the failure of storage media and central components according to the specification of services, including redundantly designed power supply
• suitable network interfaces and transmission services
• user, group and access management
• monitoring and administration functions
• interfaces, respectively. Functions for data backup and restoration
• Possibility for later capacity expansion in accordance with the specification
• Compatibility with the security and operational requirements of the university IT 5. The scope of services includes in particular:
• Delivery of the complete storage system including the components and licenses required in the specification of services
• installation or Installation at the intended installation site
• Installation, configuration and commissioning
• Integration into the network and IT infrastructure designated by the client in coordination with the university IT
• Establishment of the basic user, rights and storage structure according to coordination
• Functional testing and proof of the intended storage and access functions
• Instruction of operators

• Required rack space, power supply, cooling, network connections, uninterruptible power supply or other infrastructure must be shown in full in the offer.
• The bidder must clearly identify all building-related requirements as well as requirements for backup, maintenance, updates and support.
• Capacity and additional logic as well as performance and interface requirements result from the batch-related performance specification.
